Hearing 'kare-kare' made me think of Field Bio all of a sudden. That was the first and last time I ate that dish. Didn't really like it... Didn't expect to either. Although maybe it was because the others cooked it :P (No offense ah! Guilty rin kami dun. It's our group that cooked that unique champorado. Haha)

I remember having to wait until around 10PM to eat that. It happened quite often during the 2-week outing. Grabe. Eating at 10, and worse, having to wash the dishes after... which usually meant getting water from a nearby stream. Past midnight. In the jungle. PRICELESS.
Yeaah. But those were fun times. Funny times too. Yeah, you have no idea how much people change after 5 days in the jungle. Grabe. Hilarious :)) Those who were there know what I mean. :>
Oh, and who can forget the magnificent sight of the Pisay bus driving into the forest to pick us up?

And the cheering! Grabe, words can't describe the feeling. After 5 days trapped in the forest having to dig your latrine every morning!!! Sorry. TMI. Anyway, to have the bus pick you up at your campsite! Shiyet :))
Hay hay. Those were the days. Simple and fun. And funny as hell.
Would I like to relive those times? Nah, not really... It was a lot of work -- late nights, early mornings, long walks, heavy loads. Daym! Who'd want that? It's looking back gives you the luxury of being able to laugh at the things that gave you such a hard time. And I wanna keep it that way. :D
This one's from 30 Rock s03e18, Jackie Jormp-Jomp.
Jeffrey Weinerslav: It's pronounced, "Weinerslave."

LOOOOOL! :))
Day 2: Partied at Pao's house with the SMU Pinoys!
I tag... in the next entry :))
Tagged by Leki! This one counts for the 24th ayt?
Day 1: Got to Skype with my relatives back home! Special mention to my favorite cousin, Pam! Belated Happy Birthday!
Day 1 could've been much happier though... I was *this* close to buying a ticket for a Sunday (Jan. 25) flight to Manila... Oh well...
Note to self: must book at least 24 hours before the flight.
Will tag in the next entry.
I dunno if you guys have seen this one yet. It's been around for quite a while but it makes me laugh each time! Hahaha

I was about to get into the S60 parked in the driveway. My hand was outstretched, ready to open the passenger-side door...
But then I realized that the driveway was in SOE. And SOE is in SMU... which is in Singapore. And in Singapore, the passenger door is the driver-side door. And that our car was left-hand-drive... and back in the Philippines. And that was definitely not my dad in the car.
SHIT!
Good thing he wasn't looking.
SABAAAAW.

... and for those I have na rin...
I've got good news and bad news.
Let me start with the bad news...
You all know I'm leaving for Singapore pretty soon. Our next term's about to begin, and that means 3 more months away from you guys. Well, a month and a half actually -- I'm coming home during my mid-term 'study' break at the end of Feb. :D Since it's unlikely that I'll see most of you during that short 9-day break, let me take this chance to tell you that I'll miss you guys like hell. You have no idea how lonely it can get over there... each day spent away from the people I love being with is a tough pill to swallow... Sigh... Oh well...
Now on to the good news...
I'M STAYING HOME FOR AN EXTRA 5 DAYS!!!
YEAAAAHHHMEEEHHHN!!! That means I'm leaving on the 7th instead of the 2nd -- which is this Friday! I just got an email from my Monday prof advising us about a change in schedule for our first class. And since I don't have class on Tuesday and Wednesday, I've been able to push back my departure date by almost a week!
SOOOO... sa mga taong may utang sa akin (and the other way around... hehe), free up your schedules! I'll see you all soon! Let's make the most of these last precious moments togetheeeerrrr! Haha!

The NIKON D90!
From TIME:It's a single-lens reflex camera! It's a single-lens HD video camera! It's two digital cameras in one, and that's what makes this the first camera you should consider if you're ready for a hefty upgrade. With a set of features that will please the most demanding of photo prosumers, the D90 does it all.
Woohoo! Well, I haven't really discovered what 'all' means but it due time, I'm hoping to be one of the prosumers they mention. Stay tuned for that! :D

The 2008 F1 Drivers World Championship was one of the most exciting in years. Over the course of its 18 races, several drivers and teams had noteworthy performances, with the championship ultimately being decided in the final corner of the final lap of the final race. Those who watched that the race in Brazil will undoubtedly remember the heartbreak of Felipe Massa's family and the jubilation of Lewis Hamilton's girlfriend. While some were quick to blame Timo Glock for his amazing reduction in pace into that final turn, others rightly know that a championship is about the whole season and not just one race. And what a season it was.
For some it was the realization of the promise that Lewis Hamilton showed in his rookie season before his inexplicable late-season collapse last year. For others it was pure devastation at seeing Felipe Massa rise to his own prominence at Ferrari only to see mid-season mistakes rob him of crucial points and ultimately the championship. We just came across a video clip called "Down to the Final Corner." It was compiled by Pistola and it lets you relive the season in about eight minutes. It's a collection of the highs and lows with some of the razzle and dazzle of F1 thrown in for flavor. We've posted it after the jump to remember the season that was. With all of the changes coming to Formula 1 for 2009, we might not see anything like it for a long time to come.

Get ready Manila!
Seeya TOMORROW!!! :D
Seeya TOMORROW!!! :D
I was in the bathroom to do my own business. As soon as I finished, I heard this low exhaust note coming from outside. I looked out of the window expecting to see another of the modified Suzuki Swifts, Subaru Imprezas or Lancer Evos passing by as usual. But as soon as I stuck my head out, my vision was filled with yellow.
Passing by our bathroom window was none other than a friggin' LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO!
Daym! I once saw an Audi R8 pass by during weekly flat cleaning and I never thought that anything would top that sight! But I was wrong!
Only in Singapore do you see supercars passing by your bathroom window or get lulled to sleep by the sound of wailing V8s and V10s! Okay, maybe in Monaco you get that as well plus the occasional -- or usual -- V12, but this is nearly as good!
*As I write this I can hear another high-displacement engine being pushed to its limit somewhere out there... Man this is torture.

You can do it, Felipe. We know you can. We will be behind you full-force next year, count on that.
See you at Sepang.
See you at Sepang.
Damn. Hainanese Chicken Rice for dinner. Again. Well, maybe I haven't had it 97 times (YET) but man, does it feel that way. Gah. Here's to hoping I knew how to cook more than omelette, rice, or pancakes before coming here.
I miss waking up every morning and having food on the table. I miss my mom coming into my room for the nth time to tell me that it's almost 11 and the food's getting cold. Daaaamnnnn I really miss the food back home. Jollibee even! Mmmmmmmm.... But still, I miss the people even more(YOU PEOPLE SHOULD GO ONLINE MORE OFTEN!!! It's not like there's a massive time difference between here and there!!! And if you're busy, don't worry, I'm even busier!!! GAAAH. Labo).
So if any of you drop by Singapore, please give me a call. I don't care if you're here even just for a stopover on your way to Australia or some other place. CALL ME. I'll take the MRT straight to the airport if I can. And please have some Pinoy food with you. I don't care if it's Boy Bawang or something like that. Just need a taste of home. Haha.
Gah. Sabog.
Well, looking forward to my parents' arrival next week. Can't wait to see them after the ill-fated trip to see the race last month. And they'll be bringing food as well! Haha.
Uhh... That's all for now. Sorry if this was a little disorganized. That's just how I feel right now with the second half of the term approaching combined with the aftertaste of yet another serving of chicken rice.

Ninety miles outside Chicago
Can’t stop driving I don’t know why
So many questions, I need an answer
Two years later you're still on my mind
Whatever happened to Amelia Earhart?
Who holds the stars up in the sky?
Is true love just once in a lifetime?
Did the captain of the Titanic cry?
Oh, Someday we’ll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we’ll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we’ll know
Why I wasn’t meant for you...
Does anybody know the way to Atlantis?
Or what the wind says when she cries?
I’m speeding by the place that I met you
For the ninety-seventh time...Tonight
Someday we’ll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we’ll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we’ll know
Why I wasn’t meant for you...
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
Someday we’ll know
Why Samson loved Dalilah?
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you’ll know
That I was the one for you....
Open up the world
I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow
Watched the stars crash in the sea
If I can ask God just one question
Why aren’t you here with me tonight?
Oh, Someday we’ll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we’ll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we’ll know
Why I wasn’t meant for you...
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

Tomorrow marks the start of what's going to be the best weekend of my life. Stay tuned.
Sorry na. Hardcore eh!!!
CAN'T WAIT!!! History in the making!!! WOOHOO!!! Can't find the words to explain it so here's what The Official Formula 1 Website says!!!
"Already it is being billed by many in the sport as the most exciting premiere in Formula One history - a night race through the spectacular Singapore metropolis, on an all-new anticlockwise street circuit that will see drivers speed past historic landmarks such as the Anderson Bridge, St Andrews Road and Raffles Boulevard. It’s a mouth-watering prospect for spectators and participants alike…"
WOOHOO!!! DAYM!!!
Oh, and here are some selected driver quotes!!!
Kimi Raikkonen:
"I will fly out ONE WEEK BEFORE THE RACEto get accustomed to the climate, with a stopover in Dubai where I have some work to do.”
David Coulthard:
"I will touch down in Singapore TUESDAY MORNING and then I will head for the track. I will walk it, crawl it, will cycle it, have someone take me around it on their back - you name it, I’ll do it!”
Rubens Barrichello:
"I will arrive on MONDAY, and have two days to spend with my wife in the city, and then most probably I will have a very lively nightlife to get used to the schedule.”
Nick Heidfeld:
"Actually, I plan to fly in on TUESDAY and stay on the European schedule - however that works - and otherwise take it as it comes."
Robert Kubica:
"I will discover the reality once I’m there and walk around - very likely on the WEDNESDAY."
KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS??? DRIVER SPOTTING STARTS MONDAY!!! Buti na lang I finally got my D90 and school's just a 10-minute walk to the circuit!!! Paparazzi time!!! CAN'T F**KING WAIT!!!

Turns out I'm not going to MOS for the freshmen bash...
But I guess Zouk isn't that bad either :D
*Pacts are meant to be broken. Better sooner than later! Hahaha...
**Oh yeah, I'm the young kid in school now. But definitely not as young as the 15-year-old Pinoy in 2nd year?!?!

I'm here in an internet cafe on Bencoolen, around 2 blocks from SMU. Just sent e-mails to the hostel where I'll be staying and to International Student Affairs.
I'm chatting with friends.
I'm sitting beside this Indian guy who's calling home over the net. I can hear his daughter's little voice from the headset. He told her not to eat so much and to be good. I glanced over at him and saw a tear in his eye.
This is how it's also gonna be for me. But I've got to live with this reality. I will.
There must be something strange... or special about that place where Orchard Road becomes Bras Basah Road. That's where I saw the LP560-4 yesterday, a Maserati in March, and countless Porsches and the like. Little did I know that that junction had something even more special to offer.

A NISSAN GT-R. OMG WTF.
Most of you guys naman have played one of the NFS or Gran Turismo series right? Some of you may know this car's predecessor... the Skyline. Yep, it's the GT-R now. And my God, it's a hell of a lot better than the Skyline.
0-100kph in 3.5 secons, 11.6 seconds and 190kph at the quarter mile, and a Nurburgring lap time of 7:29. MOTHERF**K.
For perspective, the Pagani Zonda does the 20.8-kilometer Nuburgring in 7:27. And at 594 hp and 1230kg, it's got a full 114 more ponies than the GT-R and 500 less kilos xp
This car is magical. Seriously. The numbers just don't add up. You know, this thing even beat the BULLET TRAIN on a coast-to-coast race in Japan! GAH. MUST OWN.
Grabe, seeing that white GT-R was really a treat. I think it was even better than seeing the Lambo. xp And I saw it twice today! Haha... From only seeing it in magazines and on the net, seeing it in the metal... and twice in a day is heaven. I also saw a red AUDI R8 while waiting for the bus to arrive at Newton.
Daym. I hate this country. Now I need to grab a mop and wipe that puddle off drool of the hotel floor. Sorry, but it seems that this isn't going to be the last car post for this trip. And brace yourselves... I'm gonna be living here for more than 4 years.
